We specialize in audio digitizing services and the transfer of legacy formats such as records, tapes & CD’s to new digital master files. We offer complete archival audio restoration services to improve the quality of any type of recorded sound from nearly any source.
At Audio Conservation Labs we use both modern and vintage professional studio equipment combined with years of restoration experience to bring your recorded media back to life and conserve it in digital form. If your material is already in digital form we can provide mixing, mastering or editing services as needed. We are able to provide a variety of options to fit any budget, from simple format transfers to advanced audio restoration and archival preservation.
Our expert audio digitizing, transfer & restoration services are the perfect way to preserve your family memories. We digitally convert your cassette tapes, records, reel to reel, DAT, ADAT, Microcassette, 78’s & other formats to new modern audio files.
We begin with a quality assessment of each piece of material we receive to look for defects or damage and clean or repair as necessary in order to facilitate an optimal transfer.
The next step is to determine the best piece of equipment and method to use for the transfer. A vinyl to CD digitization may require a specific needle or unique speed and turntable depending on the type and condition of the record. A cassette tape to USB transfer may benefit from using a specific playback deck depending on the type and age of the original tape. These are just a few of the variables that need to be addressed in order to create the best possible digital transfer for your records, tapes and other media.
After your material is digitized we are able to perform audio restoration as needed in order to improve the sound quality. In most cases we are able to fix a variety of problems with your original audio like low volume levels and can remove unwanted noise such as record crackle, pops, tape hiss and electrical hum. This results in a new audio file that is easier to hear and free of noisy distractions, as we have created a new “master’ digital transfer that actually sounds better than the original recording!
We complete the process by archiving your audio to the digital storage format of your choice to safely preserve it for future generations.
We then return your original material, the newly restored and unrestored (flat) transfers, as well as digital pictures of each piece of your media.
Our turnaround from start to finish is typically 7-10 business days.
