Our price includes one 1/4″ 4 Track Reel To Reel Transfer of any length of time, to new lossless digital audio files, a scanned picture of your original media and the necessary prep work in order to make the transfer. The transfer cost also includes tape baking which generally requires an additional 6-10 hours as well as the basic editing of your new digital files to correct the start, end points.
Due to the size of uncompressed multi-track files we recommend that you purchase our USB drive. We can attempt to upload your files via our Digital Cloud Storage option, however there is a greater possibility for error when uploading/downloading file sizes greater than 5 GB. Most multitrack transfers will NOT fit on a CD-R.
We typically complete transfers upon receipt and inspection of your material within 3-5 business days at which time we will return your media via USPS and supply a tracking number
If you require audio restoration, mastering or mixing of your 4 track reel to reel tape conversion please specify at checkout and we will give you a quote upon completion of the transfer. Most 1/4″ analog audio tapes are slowly deteriorating and many suffer from “sticky shed syndrome” , certain types of tape shedding and oxidizing can’t be fixed, however other sound related issues in the recordings may benefit from restoration work.
Unfortunately there is no universal solution when it comes to fixing and restoring recorded sound. Audio restoration can be simple and take 15-20 minutes or take multiple hours depending on the issues present and techniques required to perform the work.
Please be aware that websites offering a fixed price for restoration work are generally using a “one size fits all” approach and potentially doing more harm than good to the finished audio. Each time unwanted noise is removed it affects the audio, restoration should be tailored towards the individual recording and changes within the recording.
We monitor your media the entire time it’s being converted and perform real time adjustments if necessary to ensure the best quality digital transfers. We are not a “big box” digitizing service and do not outsource any of our work. All of your records are converted digitally in house right here in the USA. Our digitizing services are archival quality with specific attention given to the individual needs of the customer on a per project basis.
